International Outreach & Compliance
1International outreach requires care
Rules governing email, telephone marketing, privacy, cookies, personal data and business communications differ by country and can change.
2Identify the jurisdictions involved
Consider where you operate, where the prospect is located and where personal information is being processed.
3Prefer legitimate business information
Use appropriate publicly available business contact information and reputable data sources. Do not buy or use questionable personal-data lists.
4Respect opt-outs
If someone asks you to stop contacting them, record that request and stop the relevant outreach.
5Be truthful
Identify yourself accurately. Do not use deceptive subject lines, false identities, fake relationships or misleading claims.
6Minimize data
Collect only information you genuinely need for legitimate prospecting and sales activity, and protect the information you store.
7Be careful with automated outreach
High-volume automation can create legal, platform and reputation risks. Personalization does not automatically make a campaign compliant.
8Check local rules before campaigns
Before conducting substantial outreach in a new country, review current requirements or obtain qualified legal/compliance advice where necessary.
9Follow platform rules
LinkedIn, email providers, messaging platforms and other services may impose their own acceptable-use and anti-spam requirements.
10Keep records
Maintain source, contact history, consent or objection information where relevant, and suppression/opt-out records.
Assignment Choose one country you want to prospect in. Document the business channels you plan to use, the types of data you will collect, how prospects can opt out and which current rules or professional advice you need to check before launching.
