Telephone Prospecting
1Prepare before calling
Know the company, why you are calling, who you need to speak with and the possible business problem you want to explore.
2Open clearly
Introduce yourself and your reason for calling without pretending the call was expected.
3Earn permission to continue
Be respectful of the person’s time. A short permission-based opening can reduce resistance.
4Ask discovery questions
Learn how the company currently handles the relevant process, where delays occur and what improvement would matter.
5Listen more than you speak
Do not force a prepared pitch over the prospect’s answers.
6Explain value simply
Connect your service to the problem the prospect has actually described.
7Handle objections professionally
Clarify the concern, answer accurately and avoid arguing. If the service is not suitable, do not pressure the prospect.
8Agree on a next step
A successful call may lead to a demonstration, proposal, second conversation or permission to send information.
9Record the outcome
Update your CRM immediately with notes and the next follow-up date.
